Hello, nice to meet you! My name is Derek and I’ve lived in The Netherlands since 2014.
I’ve been teaching English since 1989. First I worked in Madrid, where I taught English to company and bank employees, including: Banco Espaņa, Banco Hipotecario, and SEAT cars.
Later, I worked in Jakarta for a number of years, teaching English at all levels: in-house and in-company, to children and adults, as well as one-to-one lessons, Business English, and English for TOEFL exams. I have also worked in England where I specialised in Business English, and English for specific purposes, such as for aviation and for hoteliers.
Since moving to the Netherlands, I have worked with students wanting to pass the IELTS exam. I have also been involved with writing English language material for Noordhoff Uitgevers in Groningen.
I speak some Dutch, and I speak quite good Indonesian.
I really love art and drawing, and often keep a sketchbook with me. I also like to play guitar and a little bit of piano.
