My name is Juscilene. I am 44 years old and I am originally from Brazil. Portuguese is my mother tongue and my knowledge of the Dutch language is still at an intermediate level but I am working hard to improve it. I am a very open-minded, spontaneous, and positive person with a great sense of humor!
I have been living in the Netherlands since 2010 after changing my home country for love. I am a teacher of Portuguese and English language and culture, a volunteer by heart, and a happy mother of two beautiful children who are the sunshine of my life.
I studied Portuguese and English language and literature at the University of Ceará, Brazil and in the Netherlands, I continue my studies at the Hogeschool Utrecht.
Working in education has enabled me to meet many different people, who have all inspired me in their own particular way. In Brazil, I had wonderful opportunities to work with children, teenagers, and adults giving lessons in all levels of proficiency in private and public schools and also in underprivileged communities in collaboration with the government.
My experience with teaching in the Netherlands started at Windesheim, after completing a bridging year Language NT2.
I was then invited to give lessons of English to the students from the International Year (Schakeljaar Hoogopgeleide Anderstaligen en Voortraject - Taal NT2) where I helped them to achieve not only the excellency in the proficiency in the language they desired, by passing on international examinations recognized worldwide, but mostly preparing them to achieve their goals in study, work and in life for encouraging them every day to believe in themselves.
I believe that education has a transformative power in people's lives and the recognition of students is what motivates me the most to continue doing what I love! It fulfills my heart with joy to be able to contribute to the life of others somehow.
